Thanks to a concept that has been tested by CINTROPUR for many years, rainwater, after treatment, can also be safely used for sanitary applications throughout the house (dishwasher, washing machine, bath, shower).
In addition to water filters with sleeves and activated carbon, CINTROPUR also offers sterilizers of various powers for the treatment of rainwater, spring, well, surface and tank water.
In opposition to the chemical process of water disinfection, UV disinfection is a physical process that neutralises micro-organisms effectively and without the addition of chemicals.
A special feature of artificially generated UV radiation at 253.7 nm is that it has a germicidal effect. This means that micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa can be killed. Thanks to this capability, UV radiation is widely used as a highly effective, eco-friendly, chemical-free method of water disinfection.
From a bacteriological point of view, the UV sterilizer makes the water drinkable; however, this water is not considered drinkable until the chemical parameters have been checked and considered acceptable.
Reasons for choosing UV sterilisation
- A wide range of sterilizers
- working for all household devices up to 2 m³/h.
- for all professional needs up to 6 m³/h.
- More compact than other UV systems
- vertically integrated in a water filter concept
- TRIO-UV = device with three functions
- perfect for a complete water treatment = filtration + activated carbon + UV sterilisation
- Easy and economical maintenance
- each lamp is supplied with a lifetime indicator
- a clever bayonet system for a quick and easy lamp replacement
- Lamp powers adapted to your needs: 25 W – 40 W – 95 W
- Sterilisation efficiency proven by an independent laboratory report (bio-dosimetry test)
- Economical, efficient and professional equipment
- Easy to install, use and maintain (residential ¾” or 1” – industrial 2”)
- Can be connected to any existing CINTROPUR installation
- 100% physical disinfection, with no risk of overdosing, no unpleasant tastes or smells
- No toxic by-products
- Low maintenance cost → replace the lamp once a year

Save your drinking water !
The UV treatment widens the range of applications: washbasins, showers, tooth brushing, baths, toilets... Caution: sterilized rainwater is not approved as drinking water! -
Well, spring and surface water
Guarantee of constant and bacteriologically perfect water quality. -
Water storage in tanks
Use of stored water for sanitary purposes: caravans, boats, tents...
Don't forget to cover tanks or other containers to prevent daylight from entering them. Stagnant water in contact with daylight causes, through photosynthesis, the development of algae which will clog your filter very quickly.

Rainwater on a flat roof
A flat roof is perfect for collecting rainwater. Almost all flexible membranes used for waterproofing flat roofs will colour the rainwater during the hot summer months. This chemical colouring cannot be removed by a sleeve or an activated carbon filter or by a UV sterilizer. To avoid these inconveniences, choose a 100% EPDM membrane with cold adhesive. The recovery and use of rainwater from a green roof will be strongly coloured and therefore incompatible with any basic sanitary use (WC, washing machine...).
