Case study: rainwater reuse for sanitary applications in Flanders

In Flanders, a successful installation was carried out to supply 25 toilets with filtered rainwater.

The objective was to significantly reduce potable water consumption while ensuring reliable water quality for sanitary use.

The rainwater is collected from a non-green flat roof and transferred to a storage tank via a well-installed pump with a capacity of 5 m³/h. Annual consumption reaches approximately 100 m³, with a maximum flow rate of 1 m³/h.

The installed Cintropur filtration system includes:

  • NW 500 – 25 µm at the inlet
  • After the pump:
    • NW 340 – 50 µm
    • NW 340 – 25 µm
    • NW 500 TE with activated carbon

This multi-stage filtration efficiently removes particles, sediments and odours, making the rainwater perfectly suitable for sanitary applications.

Key advantages of Cintropur filters

Designed to handle high flow rates from 3.5 to 32 m³/h, Cintropur filters are suitable for both domestic and industrial applications. Connection sizes ranging from ¾” to 3″ allow easy integration into existing systems, while filtration levels from 1 to 300 microns provide maximum flexibility. Maintenance remains simple and cost-effective: the transparent bowl allows immediate visual inspection of the filter sleeve, accumulated particles can be flushed out via an integrated ball valve, and only the filter sleeve needs to be replaced during servicing. With all spare parts available and tool-free access thanks to O-rings, the solution is both economical and environmentally friendly.
